Alexander Paredes-Ruíz (he/him/él) is a Chicago-based cultural worker, artist-scholar, and educator originally from South Florida. He's passionate about creative praxis, reimagining narrative forms, and reinventing aesthetic traditions.
He holds an MA in Latin American and Latino Studies from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and a dual-degree in Theatre Arts Management and History from Ithaca College. His research interests largely surround Latinx cultural production, aesthetic theory, & queer performance.
Alexander is the Marketing Director at First Floor Theater, a non-profit storefront theater on the north side specializing in premiere work, and supports Mission Advancement at Teatro Vista Productions, a critically-acclaimed Latine theatre and production company.
He's worked with New York City Center, The Public Theater, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Studio Theatre, Chicago Latino Theater Alliance, and more.
Alexander is an alumnus of the National Leaders of Color program, BIPOC Critics Lab, 4A's Multicultural Advertising Program, T. Howard Foundation, and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.
